Before any treatment is undertaken we advise you to confirm diagnosis of your skin blemishes or lesions
– Please visit your GP or a Skin Specialist for an accurate assessment.
Advanced Electrolysis treatments are an alternative to medical removal but confirmation that a lesion is safe to remove is crucial.

Our electrolysis machines offer either
HF – High Frequency Diathermy
DC – Direct Current Galvanic Electrolysis
Blend – Combined Diathermy and Galvanic Current
Electrolysis is used primarily to treat and remove excessive or unwanted hair.

Advanced Electrolysis treatments have traditionally been available from experienced Electrologists to remove a variety of cosmetic skin blemishes quickly and expertly. Unlike hair removal, these treatments generally require only a few appointments to achieve results and take advantage of the very precise needle control required by electrolysis. (Some cases may require more than one treatment if there is extensive skin blemishes or lesions).

Advanced Electrolysis is divided into 3 main categories
  1. Red Vein Treatment
  2. Skin Tag Removal
  3. Benign Skin Lesion Treatment

Red Vein Treatment is a form of Advanced Electrolysis used to treat Telangiectasia or Red Veins or Thread veins and Blood Spots (Campbell de Morgan spots), and Spider Naevi. This is a precise method of Electrolysis where we use a tiny needle and tiny electric current used to cauterize the tiny red veins visible on your face.

Skin Tag Removal is a form of Advanced Electrolysis used to remove the bubble like structures or lesions that are found commonly around the neck, in the arm pit, under breasts, around the waistline or in the groin areas and sometimes around the eyes. These care common areas of friction and we cauterize and remove the skin tag from the skin surface.

Benign Lesion Treatment  is a form of advanced Electrolysis used to treat Skin tags, Xanthomas(only small), Syringomas, Sebaceous Hyperplasia and Dermatosis Papilosa Nigra.

We use the different electrical currents produced by a Blend Electrolysis Machine

  • to cauterize and desiccate (destroy) a lesion with a High Frequency Current (HF)
  • to use a chemical solution (NaOH) created by the Direct Current (DC) to slowly dissolve and shrink a lesion.
  • or combine both currents to form a Blend Current which is able to heat and chemically treat a lesion.
With all lesion removal we are trying to use the tiniest electric currents to achieve results without leaving scarring.

RED VEIN TREATMENT & DIATHERMY

Are you fed up with those annoying red patches on your cheeks or small red thread capillaries around the edge of your nostrils or the sides of the nose? They are a common affliction of New Zealanders predominantly caused by our intensive sunlight and lifestyles.

Images Offers Two types of Red Vein Treatment

  • Classic Cauterizing / Diathermy of Red Veins / Capillaries with the Electrolysis Needle
  • Intense Pulsed Light to coagulate very fine red veins / flushed cheeks / Rosacea

There can be many causes of these damaged capillaries … sun exposure, harsh treatment of the skin and injury such as squeezing. In some cases, fine skin texture and couperose may be an inherited factor

Diathermy Red Vein Treatment

Red Vein Treatment is part of Our Advanced Electrolysis Treatments using our Electrolysis Machines and skilled trained Electrologists and Beauty Therapists. – Christine and Satwinder.

Diathermy Red Vein Treatment is Only Performed on Facial Capillaries.
Diathermy is an advanced technique employed by Electrologists to reduce and eliminate, individual, visible surface capillaries (Thread Veins) and spider veins, on the face and décolletage
We use electrolysis to coagulate the capillary immediately.
Imagine the capillary as a tiny tunnel just under the skin surface (within 1-2 mm of the surface).
Blood rushes down these tunnels.
The very fine needle is inserted into these and heat applied which causes the capillary to heat to approximately 50-60 degrees centigrade, which coagulates (cooks) the blood, blocking the capillary.
The Capillary then dies and the waste is reabsorbed back into the body.
Diathermy / Needle red vein is better for the large capillaries whereas IPL is better for the very fine capillaries.
Other unseen capillaries supply the skin and these take over from the ones destroyed.

Skin reaction for electrolysis red vein treatments

Immediately area appears red, raised, swollen
Redness lasts 1-8 hours.
24 hours Skin appears calm- no redness or swelling.
2-3 days Heals with small scabs/crusts. These scabs will appear as tiny dots along the treated vessels. These scabs form over each insertion point.
These will disappear in 7-10 days. DO NOT REMOVE SCABS!!!

Home Care/ After Care

It is important to read the following:

Avoid the following causes of red veins
– Sun exposure and sun beds, extreme temperatures such as cold winds or heat.
– Smoking, spice hot foods, excess alcohol, steroid medication, harsh treatment of area, injury to the cheek area, friction or exfoliation/scrubs, anything that can cause skin to flush.
– During healing period after each treatment: (14 day +)
– Do not rub with flannels or towels
– No exfoliation, scrubs or peels
– Use masks with care
– Protect skin from the sun
– No picking
– Do not remove scabs
– IF CRUSTS ARE REMOVED PITTING OR SCARRING CAN RESULT!!!
– DO NOT CLEANSE OR MOISTURISE FOR 24 HOURS
– After 24 hours do so very carefully, so crusts are not removed.
– Keep area dry to promote scab formation
– Do not use thick, oily cosmetics
– No soaking baths
– No swimming

Products to apply to skin
– Aloe Vera plant – Natural gel / Pure form
– Aloe Vera based gel (Images Burn Cream)

SKIN TAGS & BENIGN SKIN LESION REMOVAL

SKIN TAG REMOVAL

Skin Tags or Papilloma’s or Acrochordous are balloon type skin growths commonly found around the base of the neck, in arm pits, around waistlines and in groin areas where skin is rubbed by necklaces or clothing – especially rough seam lines or bras.

  1. Some just grow with no apparent cause.
  2. They can also be found around the eyelids.
  3. They are extremely common.
  4. We remove them by cauterizing them off the skin surface with a simple quick Electrolysis procedure.
  5. A small scab will develop where the skin tag has been removed and this will heal quickly leaving a small flat scar where he skin tag had been.

SEBACEOUS HYPERPLASIA / XANTHOMA / XANTHELASMA

Sebaceous Hyperplasia – also occurs with Rosacea

Sebaceous Hyperplasia is the term used for enlarged sebaceous glands seen on the forehead or cheeks. Sebaceous hyperplasia appears as small yellow bumps up to 3 – 6mm in diameter. Close inspection reveals a central hair follicle surrounded by yellowish lobules. Lobules are the tiny individual sacs that form the sebaceous gland that are not normally visible.

The sebaceous gland has become over stimulated (hyperplasia) and each lobule or “tiny bubble” has become filled with Lipid (hardened oil).

We treat the Sebaceous Hyperplasia and small Xanthoma with a special electrical current termed Galvanic Electrolysis.

Galvanic Electrolysis uses a DC (Direct Current) to create a caustic solution (NaOH = Sodium Hydroxide) to form within the lesion and within the lipid/oi. Over the next few days the Sebaceous Hyperplasia and small Xanthoma lesions gradually shrink and may even disappear.
The sodium hydroxide solution created within the lesion breaks up and dissolves the lipid globules. Sodium Hydroxide acts like soap gradually dissolving the lipid.
The body naturally absorbs and removes the dissolved cells and oil, gradually shrinking the lesion or lump!
Larger Sebaceous Hyperplasia lesions require multiple applications of the electric current to dissolve shrink and eradicate them.
We cannot guarantee permanent eradication as the cause of Sebaceous Hyperplasia and Xanthelasma has not been treated.

Skin Reaction and Aftercare

Immediately = treated area appears red, raised, swollen Redness and swelling lasts 1-8 hours.
2 – 3 days = Skin appears calm – no redness. There may be some residual swelling.
Treated lesions can heal with small scabs/crusts. These scabs will appear as tiny dots on the surface of the lesion. These scabs form over each insertion point.
DO NOT REMOVE SCABS!!! Allow Scabs to fall off naturally in their own time. Lesion will gradually shrink in size over the next 7 to 14 days.

Xanthelasma or Xanthoma

(Xanthelasma Palpebrarum) is a skin condition that develops flat yellow or white growths on the upper and lower eyelids.
Xanthelasma is often seen in people with high cholesterol or other fat (lipid or oil) levels in the blood, and the lesions contain deposits that are high in fat (lipid-rich).
Xanthomas are characterized by accumulations of this Lipid deposit around the eye area.
Squeezing and pricking them does not remove them and can actually cause Xanthomas to grow larger.
Large Xanthelasma are very difficult to treat.
We are treating small Xanthomas with our DC current in a similar way to how we treat Sebaceous Hyperplasia.
After a consultation we can determine if the size of your Xanthoma is easy or difficult to treat.
We currently charge $20 for 5 minutes or $40 for 10 minutes.
Large Xanthelasma on the top eye eyelid at present cannot be treated.

OTHER SKIN LESIONS

SYRINGOMA / PAPILLOMA / DERMATOSIS PAPULOSA NIGRA

Syringomais a non-cancerous (benign) bump, usually found on the upper cheeks and lower eyelids of young adults. Syringomas are completely harmless and are caused by the overgrowth of cells from sweat glands (eccrine glands). They are similar to Xanthomas but do not contain the white lipid clumps.

Papilloma is a benign skin growth projecting in nipple-like or finger-like fronds, sometimes looking like a soft wart.

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) is a condition of many small, benign dark skin growths on the face, usually presenting on dark-skinned individuals. The dark version of a Papilloma.

We treat the Syringoma / Papilloma / Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra with a special electrical current (HF or High Frequency) that cauterises or generates heat in skin tissue. Our electrolysis machine can create a very tiny amount of heat that limits scarring. We like to use just enough current to either “melt off” or desiccate (dry out and blacken) the lesion ONLY. We use a tiny needle in a precise technique to treat the lesions which enables a conservative treatment with little or no scarring to the underlying and surrounding skin. Cyrotherapy or Liquid Nitrogen used by doctors can be more scarring as it can damage surrounding skin tissue leaving a small discoloured scar. Lasers are another alternative treatment but at a higher cost, but are a better alternative for quite large lesions

We can also treat Seborrheic Keratosis (Senile Warts) with Electro cautery = electrolysis.

Skin Reaction and Aftercare

Immediately – area appears red, raised, swollen
1-24 hrs – Redness and swelling lasts 1-8 hours. Desiccation causes Scabs to form immediately. Black scabs may form on darker skin. DO NOT REMOVE SCABS!!!
1 to 14 days – Heals with small scabs/crusts. These scabs will appear as tiny dots on each of the lesions. These scabs form over each insertion point. The lesion will eventually fall off. DO NOT REMOVE SCABS!!!

Home Care/ After Care

It is important to read the following:During healing period after each treatment: (14 day +)

  • DO NOT CLEANSE OR MOISTURISE FOR 24 HOURS.
  • After 24 hours wash area very carefully & gently.
  • Keep area dry to promote scab formation.
  • Do not rub area with flannels or towels – rub off healing skin!
  • No exfoliation, scrubs or peels.
  • Use Masks with care.
  • Protect skin from the sun.
  • No Picking
  • Do not remove scabs.
  • IF CRUSTS ARE REMOVED PITTING OR SCARRING CAN RESULT
