Dermal Micro Needling or Rolling

“I first heard of Skin Needling on a trip to Australia in 2000 - it was still just a concept by Dr Fernandez in South Africa - a plastic surgeon. I had met up with some other Beauty Therapists and we were greatly excited at this innovative treatment idea. Fast forward 18 years and his concept has become a reality.” Christine.

We now have a simplified treatment technique with the medical studies to back it up.

Dermal Micro Needling

Dermal Micro Needling (DMN) is a safe and effective alternative to laser and chemical resurfacing without the down time. Needling is a treatment that stimulates Natural Collagen and Elastin creating New Skin Growth thus causing REJUVENATION.

Dermal Micro Needling is ideal for any client looking to improve signs of

  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Fine lines, deep lines, and wrinkles, especially around the eyes, mouth and neck area
  • Loss of skin density, saggy and crêpey skin sun
  • UV damage
  • Acne scarring and other scars
  • Comedogenic (acne) conditions
  • Rosacea
  • Stretch marks
  • Enlarged pores
  • Premature aging

Dermal Needling involves a device with small fine needles that quickly create tiny “pin pricks” in your skin. The needling treatment makes hundreds of microscopic channels or micro injuries in the skin, and it is these micro injuries that stimulate your own body to begin the healing process that produces new collagen and rejuvenates, thickens and smooth's your skin.

We initially used a Dermal Needling Roller device with 50-100 tiny needles to roll over the skin surface - each roller was a specific depth ranging from 0.3 - 0.5 - 1.0 - 1.5 mm.

We have upgraded to a Dermal Pen that is an electric pen-like device which uses a STERILE disposable head with just 12 tiny needles that oscillate hundreds of times per minute moving the needles in and out of the skin. The Dermal Pen needle depth can be altered throughout a treatment from 0.25mm through to 2.0mm enabling your therapist to cater to your specific needs and treat areas that are difficult to reach.

We have upgraded to better and faster, more thorough Dermal Pens and we have also added 3 pin needle heads and nano needle heads.

The 3 pin needle head is used for scar restoration - acne scars, chicken pox scars, WRINKLES and around the EYES.

Professional Salon Only Medical Dermal Needling Treatment

Professional Medical Dermal Needling requires a precise treatment procedure involving medical grade hygienic protocols.

Professional Needling treatments are commonly performed with anaesthetic cream and within 0.5 to 2.0mm needle depth but most of our clients are finding they can handle a Dermal Needling Pen without anaesthetic.

You will appear pink for approximately 1- 2 hours afterwards and are able to resume normal skin care the next day. We recommend repeating Professional Medical Needling every 6 to 8 weeks. Optimum results are achieved from 6 to 8 treatments spread over 1 to 2 years with research indicating results lasting 5 to 10 years. We are noticing improvement in as little as 4 weeks.

For those who are nervous, we offer anaesthetic cream and this requires a longer appointment. The Anaesthetic Topical cream requires approximately 30 mins to take effect.

If your are nervous we also suggest trying our new Nano Needling Infusion Facial - a treatment using a specialised Nano Head with silicon needles that only penetrate 0.15 mm into the skin surface that feels ticklish and more like a skin scrub.

Scar or Wrinkle Treatment

Images is also offering a Wrinkle / Scar / Acne or Pit Scar Treatment using a special 3 pin needle head to induce Collagen and therefore skin growth and plumping of wrinkles and pitted scars. Small scars require a quick 10 minute procedure and do not require anaesthetic. Deep wrinkles around the mouth, lips, eyes, forehead or elsewhere can be treated. Also pitted scars - especially old acne or chicken pox scars can be equally treated. These treated areas require special after care and longer recovery time. We have been getting great results so far and many clients have been working on hated wrinkles between the brows and across upper lips. We do offer anaesthetic cream if so desired.

Cosmetic or Home Rollers have needles usually only 0.3 mm in length. Home Rolling requires a simple procedure (which we will teach you) and no need for anaesthetic. Home Rolling is used to infuse active ingredients 4000 x better than normal topical application and requires frequent use 1 to 3 times weekly. It is a much softer version of needling and is easily performed by yourself. Images is able to offer both professional treatments and home rollers for ongoing maintenance care. $79 Home Roller includes instruction and first use with therapist.

The New Dermal Needling Pen

A Dermal Needling Pen is much safer and more effective in piercing the skin than traditional skin micro needling Rollers, because of its unique vertical micro needling technology. It has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation. Active ingredients are directly supplied to the deeper layers of the skin.

A Dermal Needling Pen uses an electric multi-speed motor and disposable heads with 8-36 micro sized needles which can be set at various adjustable depths of penetration allowing the needles to pierce the skin's layers at 90 degrees. This increases the effectiveness of treatments by increasing the absorption of any products applied during or after the procedure. It dramatically reduces pain and patient downtime.

A Dermal Needling Pen can effectively treat hard-to- reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose, and lips). Because of the vertical delivery, the needles can easily penetrate scar tissue. A Dermal Needling Pen promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.

The mechanism of injury is a natural process, which makes a Dermal Needling Pen a holistic approach to skin therapy.

A Medical Clinical Study

Patients treated with the Dermal Needling Pen unanimously felt that the procedure was much less painful than with a Dermal Needling Roller and the downtime was significantly shorter with a Dermal Needling Pen. Subjectively, patients treated with a Dermal Needling Pen felt that their acne scarring had improved to a greater extent than patients with a Dermal Needling Roller. Laboratory Test data showed significantly greater reduction of depth of scars using a Dermal Needling Pen compared to a Dermal Needling Roller.

Conclusion

Treatment of acne scarring has been significantly advanced with the introduction of a Dermal Needling Roller. The new Dermal Needling Pen, however, has a number of advantages. The disposable needle heads are cheaper than a Dermal Needling Roller. Patients felt that the Dermal Needling Pen was much less painful and had shorter downtime than the Dermal Needling Roller. Dermatologists felt it was easier to use and enabled sites such as the upper lip and nose to be treated with ease. The Dermal Needling Pen also showed significantly superior reduction in scar depth after a single treatment.
